HOW Rod
Here is my latest build, which was inspired by the Heroes on the Water program. Hopefully it can find a useful purpose. http://i694.photobucket.com/albums/vv306/dunflyphoto/IMG_1800.jpg http://i694.photobucket.com/albums/vv306/dunflyphoto/IMG_1803.jpg The rod is a P844-W-MHX in white from Mudhole in...

Re: Fly Rod Info
I started fly fishing with a spin/fly combo rod that was given out as a promotion for Marlboro. I had great fun with it and actually caught some fish. I made a deal with the wife, if I caught a redfish with it, I would go out and buy a real fly rod (ended up being a Scott SAS). Anyway, what you have...

Looks intersting. Tell us how well they stick to your kayaks. I have a hard time getting anything to stick to mine.

I'm building on right now with the Microwave guides. I spoke to Doug at length about them before he died. I'm not sure how they would make the rod heavier, particularly if you are using the nanolite guides. The running guides are essentially the same weight as a micro guide.

Re: looking for place to wade in clearwater
If you are talking about Dunedin Causeway, there is a ton of parking (and no parking meters). You can park right at the waters edge and cast out the window if you want. A spur from the Pinellas Trail runs along beside the road, so it is a great place for people watching too. There is also a Kayak re...

Re: looking for place to wade in clearwater
There is an area under and to the east of the Sand Key Bridge on the north side of the channel that can be fished. Be careful of dropoffs and currents. There is an area on the east side of Sand Key, just south of the channel and north of the sailing club that has some nice grass flats. The bottom is...

Re: Bug net
I've got a bug shirt that covers your head, upper body and arms. It works great on all types of bugs, but I find it to be to hot to use in the summer. I use some industrial strength deet, which works on about anything, including noseeums.

Fly Fishing Film Tour
Anybody going to the Fly Fishing Film Tour at Tampa Picture Show next Thursday? I've been there the last three years. It's always a good time.

Re: Walk and Chew Gum......
It's really a matter of timing. I would start with a single haul on the forecast to get the timing right. It is hard to describe in words, you almost have to get with someone to show you. It's not really complicated.

Re: Kayak Skeg
Seems like a skeg at the rear where the rudder goes would be counter productive since it is the bow that typically gets blown off course. With proper paddling technique, you can usually compensate for wind direction unless it is really blowing.

Hasn't the north PFCS always included St. Joseph Sound and north in the past. Your boundaries are jaming a lot of people into very few launches.

Re: Sh**t Happens
It wasn't particularly rough that day, certainly not enough to consider cancelling the event. There was only one patch of rough water, which is were Bisuit went over. I took a wave over the side there, but it was basically an area of heavy chop and you were out of it pretty quickly. There was a wide...

Brown trout and rainbow trout in New Zealand. Alaska would be a close second but I've already done that.
