Re: Redfish

I would have to agree with John but I also would try the gold glitter and red gold glitter shad tail by doa. If the grass is thick try a steady retrieve keeping right above the grass the trout and reds will come up and smack it as it goes by.

Re: Palm river / McKay bay

I've never tried it but you may be able to put in at Desota Park that was where we loaded the shell bags into the Baywatch boats when we were building the oyster bars. I did see a small beach off to the east of the parking lot I parked in. I used to put in off of 50th street before they put the gas ...

Re: Mckay Bay?

If anyone is interested Tampa Baywatch is doing a oyster bar build project in Mckay Bay April 5th. It's a great way to learn and area and have a inside track of Oyster bar's that will someday hold fish. I have done a number of these projects in the Kitchen area and Weedon Island it's a good way to g...

Re: MacDill Ferry...

Years ago that area was called wiskey stump you could drive all the way out to the end of the point and fish and have picnic's out there before they gated it off. The deep channel is a great place for Silver trout this time of the year it has always held allot of snook also. We planted allot of oyst...

Re: Change in fishing tactics for winter fishing?

Main thing to remember is slow it down if you think you are going slow enough slow it down some more. I like to dead stick top water plugs walking the dog side to side real slow.

Re: 20131004 - a trip to the darkside (almost)

Great post I must say it's nice to hear once in a while a story about paddle craft and stink pots that can fish side by side without running over each other.

Re: Have you ever been shocked by your fishing rod?

We were fishing down in ten thousand islands one time when a thunderstorm rolled in we could hear what sounded like buzzing coming off our rod tips then we noticed our line started slowly lifting up off the water. We got our rods in and laid them on the deck of the boat just before a bolt hit the ma...

Re: Cockroach Bay

This would be right in Richard Sullivans area he manages I've known Richard for years and I think he would keep a close eye on the area unlike the boat ramp area.

Re: Cockroach Bay

I worked the last planting at the site a month or so ago in the new area behind Richards house. They filled in that last shell pit and connected it to the rest of the site. The good and bad news is they plan on adding a parking area and launch site inside the restoration area.

Very sad to hear about Jay I first met Jay and John back on capmels site right about the time they were bringing life to this site. I invited them to join me on the river for some snook fishing as I recall we didn't catch much that day but it was allot of fun. I got to spend time with him at a coupl...

Winter is my favorite time of year to fish the water is clear we get negative low tides and very few boats. I fish in the rivers dead sticking top water plugs it's a blast look for small spring's that popup in the middle of the river or on undercut banks. My personal best snook was 43" it was 2...

I've often thought about buying a Kayak but I really like the extra room I get in a Canoe. I have comfortable swivel seats in mine also that give plenty of back support I think that is a must whatever your going to spend 5 or 6hrs in. I spend 90% of my time standing and fishing and I doubt I could d...
