Re: Redfish Sarasota
Good luck with anybody telling you about specific spots. Instead, look for the popular kayak launches and go out and fish fish fish. The only way to learn is keep fishing the same area in different conditions, times of day, tides, etc. Your other option is hire a guide for a day and learn some techn...

Thanks I did not know that. I'll be careful in the future.Manning wrote:Cool video and cool foot grab technique. Hanging big snook by it's jaw out of the water not cool at all. That can damage and kill fish even if they seem fine at release.

Re: Pasco County
Ok, first off I don't live in Pasco County, but I do have some advice that I think works anywhere. I might get laughed at for what I'm about to say, but I don't see anyone else stepping up to give advice, so here goes... Pick a spot, one spot and primarily fish that area. Just keep going back, and l...

Hey 0119, I still have the Curado I bought from you...still my most favorite reel! Yeah the board is there but it's pretty much dead. People just stopped posting. The General lives in NC now.

New Peace River Video
Here is a video I made from a few trips this winter on the upper Peace River. There was a very narrow window when the river was fishable. A new dam project on Lake Hancock has made the water levels very unstable lately. As you can tell on video, current was a factor in boat positioning and handling....

Re: 12/3 West Side of Sarasota Bay
Thanks for the report. Ugh, The Windfinder reports have been keeping me from off the water lately...seeing gusts of over 15mph plus is just not promising. I also use the NOAA graphical forecast site (see link below). When the 2 services match up in their wind gust predictions , that's usually enough...

Bass and Snook on the Peace River - Video
Hey Guys!
Here is a video from a recent trip to the Peace River. I finally broke down and bought a GoPro. So this is my first attempt at editing...don't be too critical

Oh yeah! Here is a link and excerpt from Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission. They forget to mention that Suwannee's put up a hell of a fight for their size! http://myfwc.com/wildlifehabitats/profiles/fish/freshwater/suwannee-bass/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Suwannee B...

Re: Topwater on the Peace River 11-10-11
I think the section from Ft. Meade to Wauchula is the one of the most overlooked places to fish. You have may options starting in Ft Meade (up or down stream). Then at (Polk/Hardee County) County Line Road in Bowling Green...paddle up stream. Paynes Creek State Park is next. Starting at the SP makes...

Topwater on the Peace River 11-10-11
The river fishing continues... This weekend I threw the Old Town in the back of the truck and headed to one of my favorite sections of the Peace River. I LOVE throwing a topwater frogs, and in this section I usually get some BIG bites. I just got one big bite today, but the smaller bass we all over ...

Santa Fe River
A few weeks a go I returned to the Santa Fe River to catch some Suwannee Bass. I haven't fished up there in a couple of years...seemed like every time I wanted go the water was too high or too low. I floated from the 441 bridge in High Springs down to Rum Island. The current was good, however the wi...

A towel to dry my feet and dry pair of socks; Beanie for my head and a Buff for my neck; wicking short sleeve shirt with a long sleeve shirt over. A light jacket for before the sun...then the layers start to go. My light rain pants over shorts if real cold. No cotton but stuff that will dry quick. D...
