Re: We lost another great one on Monday
Wow! Saw Hank's post on FB but thought she was just moving but had a morbid feeling so I had to check here. Very sorry for the loss and wished I fished with her when she was active at Capmel.

Re: Microwave guide
My question is, if the wavespin reel eliminates wind knots, why do you need a rod with microwave guide?
I buy the microwave guide theory because I've seen and used Fuji lowrider guides made by Phinla.
BTW, Phinla builds fantastic custom rod.

Bing Map Bird's eye view
Anybody notice that Bing Maps Birds Eye view, which is great for satellite over view of the flats in your area, now only works at 25 and 50ft zoom level? You can't zoom out any further and 25ft and 50ft is way too close to be useful. It is not much use now since I can't see the overall layout unless...

[Try it Todd, it might make a believer out of you. Never doubted it Lee, just had never heard of the knot or seen it before. Posted the link so others could see. I am sure it will take a few times to get the hang of it, looks interesting. I should stop by your shop and have you show it to me, that ...

FYI- http://videos.sportfishermen.com/action/viewvideo/3718/ Try it Todd, it might make a believer out of you. It's one of four braid to mono knot that doesn't require a knot in the mono. The other three are mid-knot, PR knot, FG knot. This variation of the FG knot is far easier to tie and holds ev...

Knot test
So it's a slow day at work and I decided to entertain pbr. Here is the following unofficial test using 10lb test Stren Super Braid(that is still on a brand new 300yds spool that I got on Ebay at a super deal) and a piece of 30lb Suffix Superior mono. Test Result: 1. Single line ancient Chinese super...

Re: Respool
Respooling a Daiwa Advantage 2000 w/ 8lb. PP, and need some suggestions. Spool says 6lb. = 135 yds. I assume that's still based on mono. I want to put all 150 yards of the PP on. So, what size and roughly how much mono backing? Do I need tape under the mono? Something else? Which knot for the mono ...

Norm based on what I see I would agree with your assesment that the Samurai is less prone to wind knots, and also agree that the smaller line is harder for fish to see, but also allows smaller baits to sink faster with better action. That all depends on the reel, how much you have on the spool, and...

For it's size and weight the Wavespin actually has a more powerful drag than the Stella. You might not want to entirely believe the manufacturer or Tackletour when it comes to drag measurement. When the Abu Garcia REVO STX first came out, Tackletour tested the drag to confirm or deny the 24lbs of d...

Strength Test
Sorry to bring this thread backup again. I just receive a 7ft superlight spinning rod(feels like 4 oz) with micro guides(smaller than most baitcast rod guide) and decided to match it up with a Daiwa Certate 2500 with 300 yds of 8lb Stren Super Braid. I haven't used the line much and it feels very li...
