Lake Tarpon / Anderson Park

Looking to do a fresh/salt double-shot this Saturday. Will start at Anderson Park in the morning and then launch from the Dundedin Causeway in the afternoon. It's my first time with Florida freshwater. Anyone have any idea what lures are working this time of year?

Re: Overboard Rods

I concur ...

I've got one as well, and it's my go-to rod now.

Last weekend I stumbled in to a black drum (I'm guessing 30 pounds plus) and really laid in to it with this rod - no worries.

Re: Hey you! Lure manufacturers, EAT MY SHORTS!

Don't the conservation folks tell us to land fish quickly? The hooks on those lures are junk right out of the box. Straightened out and then turned to rust in one trip. On top of that, the company ignored my email. They'll never get another penny from me. They're expecting the e-mail and pics now ....

Re: Hey you! Lure manufacturers, EAT MY SHORTS!

I talked to my peeps at Koppers, and they advised that if you'd send pics of defective hooks or damaged lures to them at [email protected] they will make it right. Speak your mind folks, they want a badass lure as much as you do ...

Re: Hey you! Lure manufacturers, EAT MY SHORTS!

This is kinda like taking a knife to a gunfight, using a freshwater lure/hooks in *THIS* hostile environment. However, if you're looking for top-of-the-line saltwater stuff (including real-man hooks), check these kids out. Mullet and Greenback (in "wake-bait" version) and a sinking pinfish...

DaveR wrote:That's it Bill. Worked again today. High noon and caught 3 snook. It's a freshwater lure and this is freshwater. No salt what so ever. In fact there are a couple dams in between it and salt water.
Looks like a Live Target lure made by Koppers.

Re: CooknFish Celebration Day

For those of you that are wondering how to plan that day (food and beverage), here are some things to keep in mind: Island Way Grill: Has a ka-razee killer breakfast and equally killer view of PAG across the channel. So, that's a good option if you need to eat before you attend. They also have equal...

Very much so. Still processing it all. I learned a lot today about the kid ... better late than never, I guess. Guitar: Never knew he played! I'm wagering he only ever played just for fun, hence no wannabe/has_been swagger. I have extra guitars at home ... why didn't we ever stretch a couple of them...

Re: Remembering CooknFish

When I started my craker_conversion in 2000, I new nada about Florida fishing. Living at Pass-A-Grille, fishing opportunities were everywhere. Fishing from a kayak was the most cost effective way to get on the water – picking up some heavy skinny affordable mutts at Sams Club was the immediate answe...
