Illinois. Fly rodding bass and bluegill up here helps keep me sane up here. I'd much rather fish the salt...

PB? Bluegill
Hello fellas, I've been scoping out the tarpon reports and figured I'd contribute a little rather than just creepin'. I'll be down in the Pinellas area for 10 solid days of fishing starting Friday. Anyways, I went out to shoot some line to help get me thru these final 5 days and tagged into a few bl...

I'd like to give them a try on the grill to see if all this business of them tasting like scallops is true. They also make for about the best shark bait around for the big guys.

Re: spearing rays
Check it out carefully. Rays are awesome to eat. But Florida I believe considers a bow the same as a gun. Tresspassing with a gun in Florida is a felony. So for example getting caught with a bow/gun someplace they are not allowed......See where I am going? We face the same issues duck hunting. BTW ...

Re: Drift Sox
I just stumbled across this... I think I have a possible reason as to why the Natives drift slower... The amount of water that a boat draws should have a drastic impact on the rate of windage drift. That being said, correct me if I'm wrong, but a Native will draw significantly more water than that o...

Re: spearing rays
I think I'm going to rule out the beach, and just hit the ICW's... a lot less people to worry about.
Best way I've found, is to put your paddle blade on the ray once you get it in to hold down the tail and then cut it off so it cant get you.

Re: spearing rays
Thanks again guys. I guess I can bowfish right off the beach since it is excluded from the 100 yard rule... I was thinking about doing that extra early in the morning when no one is on the beach (and its calm... or at least it used to be...) just so I dont draw a bunch of attention and piss off ever...

spearing rays
I've heard you can spear/bowfish stingrays. However, I can't find anything pertaining to it in the FL fishing regs... Does anybody have any experience with this, or know what the laws are? I would like to do some bow fishing out of my kayak but want to make sure it is all legal first. I've also hear...

Re: mack attack
Sounds good guys, I've got a few monster hooks around for sharking so I'll just knock off one of the barbs. Now I just gotta get hooked up to one of those silver suckers... IF it ever calms down out there... I rolled my little t120 over after a bait drop. (given I was surfing my yak up the beach)

Re: Shark in or around Tampa Bay
If your going to be on the beach, and have a decent amount of line to play with (500+yds). Use that canoe to drop some big cut baits or live ones (lady fish work nice and are always a good time on light tackle) as far as you have line for off the beach. (I like to drop about 300yds off with my 6/0 p...

Re: mack attack
Thanks guys, I was throwing 40lb fluoro got bit off, switched to 100lb mono... same story. Not sure quite sure what was cutting me off, pretty sure it was macks boiling the baitfish (I was seeing something large flashing). I'll have to switch gears to a wire leader I guess. As for the poons, I've se...

mack attack
Hey guys, I've been tryin to get on some kings and macks paddling off the beach. However, I keep getting bit off on mono leaders, so I'll switch to cable and the bite disappears... Are you guys using wire? Or what am I doing wrong here? I've also have been chasing a few poons in the yak, but I'm rea...
