Fly gear, cast right(switch every reel over to left hand) reel left...same with spinning....casting gear cast right, switch hands reel right....dunno why? Done it for 30 years.

Bearsfan - does anyone still snell on a leader to fly connection when the loop knots have been shown to be so effective? Not that I know of. That is probably why many modern patterns are not tied with long exposed hook shanks. I would guess that greater than 80% of those patterns tied on long shank...

LOL, I've always been an advocate of less steps. I use materials that move(breath) almost standing still. Marabou always wins over rabbit strips imho, plus the lack of hook wrapping and weight while casting. If I can tie a fly in 4 steps it's a winner both on the water and the vise. I like to tie in...

I use to tie production streamers and have a HMH....and still use that same vise. I like it because it's clean in profile and I'm use to it....I have no idea what model it is I've had it so long, but I think I paid somewhere in the ballpark of 250 for it...it has the bigger head for larger hooks.
