Re: Costa Bluefins
Just got my Costa Blackfin's with green 580 prescription lenses. Not cheap, but so far I really love them. If you are in the market for prescription Costas, the Center For Sight just opened a new office on Fruitville Road here in Sarasota. They are offering a 30% discount on prescription Costas thr...

Sealect Designs Deck Bungee Kit Installation
My most recent project was to install some bungee on the front hatch of my kayak. I decided on this kit for ~$22. This is an easy job that most of you have done, but this may help the newbies. http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk312/scotty-14/Deck%20Bungee%20Rigging/image.jpeg I also picked up thes...

Re: Health Warning!!! Please read. This is serious stuff
I have to say that I read this post and then fished the next day at Cockroach. I was actually thinking about changing locations, but then I thought I was being a bit paranoid. If I had open cuts on my hands, feet and legs...I may have canceled my outing. I certainly did not wade as much as I usually...

Re: PFTS#1 - MarkM Memorial sponsored by EXUDE by Mister Twi
QUESTION....Any rule on what type of camera we are supposed to use? Will the judges need a memory chip or will they look at the pics on the device(camera, phone, etc.) I was planning on using my iphone to take the pics. Thanks!

Re: Kayak Skeg
Its my rearend that gets blown. My bow wants to point into the wind. Even though my bow is probably lighter than my stern, I think its the wind blowing my body, milk crate, fishing rods that causes my bow to want to turn into the wind.
With that said, a skeg in the rear would help....right?

Re: Kayak Skeg
Thanks DoubleM. I came across that design as well. I was thinking of trying to create one to install where the rudder would go. Maybe mount a receiver that I could slide a piece of plastic into for windy conditions. I got caught in a cross wind a few weeks back and I had a hell of a time keeping the...

Kayak Skeg
Does anyone out there use a skeg on their SOT kayak? Has anyone ever made their own skeg? I have a Redfish 12 and its brutal to paddle when its windy. Im not sure I want to install a rudder....I want to keep it simple. Maybe something I can raise, lower, and/or leave off when not needed. I am lookin...

Re: Land O Lakes/North Tampa Bait Shop
CC Marine on 41 just North of 54. They have live bait and mostly fresh water supply. If you are looking for lures and kayak gear, try GO2 outfitters on 54 near Carpenters Run. Excellent supply of kayak accessories and most of the popular lures.

Re: winter wading?
Spring and summer I'll wade in shorts..Keep your wading belt tight with the waders , you fall in a whole and they fill up with water you could be in a sticky situation. I too prefer to fish with someone else when wading. bps has a good set of boots for $30. http://i.imgur.com/StBCy.png I use simila...

Re: Kayak Transport Question
Thanks for the input guys. I ended up transporting in like always(in my bed w/extender). I just packed all of the family baggage around it lol.
I do like the carpet idea tho. I will have to try that.

Re: Kayak Transport Question
Man, I dont know how people transport kayaks on top like that. Its very difficult to get my 60 lb yak up on the roof...especially upside down--I imagine a step stool would help. Ive been spoiled by the convenience of just sliding my kayak into the bed of my truck.

Re: Kayak Transport Question
I wouldn't trust those handles. Run the strap all the way over the top. Can't see the attachment point for bow or stern. The bow attachment is very important. PS - is that a buckle rubbing on the hood? Rik, that's the main reason why I posted this because I was not sure about tying to the handles. ...

Kayak Transport Question
I will need to transport my kayak rooftop rather than using my usual bed extender in the back of my truck. I would like to get some opinions about my tie down methods. Thanks! http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk312/scotty-14/B2916552-16FC-4155-A15A-FC9629C470D5-1574-000001D4BD18770F.jpg http://i28...

Re: What's your go to lure or artificial?
1) Upper water column: Skitter Walk- smaller size-seatrout color or bone(seems like I end up throwing this the majority of the time). I've been buying the freshwater size and replacing the hooks with stainless ones. 2) Middle Depth: Mirrodine in chartreuse/silver 3) Lower Depth: 1/8 oz jighead with ...
