Re: Lock jaw
Congrats on the slot snook. Those drum are nuts. They have crazy tunnel vision when they're feeding. I think you could bump a bait off of their nose and they'd never even notice it if it's not what they're eating. Thanks for the report.

Re: Kayak Fishing Is My Meditation
Well said Steve. Some of the most impactful times of my life have been in nature, alone. I remember Elk hunting in the Flat Top Wilderness area of Colorado. It was a pack-in, horseback hunt. I remember setting out on horseback before daylight following a river when the sun burst from between two mou...

Capt. Mel was the man. I also remember Salty Sol on the news when I was a kid. Those were the good ones!

Paddle vs Peddle
I wasn't really sure where I should pose this question, here or the rigging area but here we go. I fish about an equal amount in the Bradenton area and in North Florida and have been doing so for many years. In North Florida the peddle yaks (mostly Hobies) now dominate. The advantage they have is fi...

T-reign 7.5 pliers with retractable lanyard
I thought I'd share this with guys that may find it useful. After a few fishing trips, and let's say around 20 times fishing, this is my t-reign 7.5 pliers review. They've been dunked several times and de hooked numerous fish, a couple of hats, one pfd and one kayak seat twice. The retractor is the ...

Re: Wind wind wind
It's been a couple rough weeks for fishing on the Southshore area - with all this rain who knows what'll happen. They gotta eat at some point, but I haven't even bothered going out. Couple weeks ago the flats were a water temp of +90 and full of monkey snot; now storms and winds have messed things ...

Wind wind wind
I just finished the 2 week family vacation/fishing trip to AMI. For the last several months I'd envisioned hungry, post mating tarpon waiting on the surface to devour whatever I placed before them. Truth be told, I figured I'd get to sit for countless hours off of the beach hoping for one good jump....

Re: A first visit to Tampa Bay
I found this thread extremely helpful when I started looking into tarpon fishing from the kayak.

Concerning the aforementioned "poon dance", can it be done in kayak, or is it just a stink pot kinda move?jbdba01 wrote:I go with the rally cap and a poon dance.

Re: Finally!!!
Congrats Phinla. We will be on AMI for a couple of weeks in July and hope to find a few still cruising the beach. I got to go out with you one morning last year and would love to get together again. Loved the video and look forward to more!
