Re: Penn Slammers

The Penn's are one of the few strong and dependable reels on the market. If you'll service them now and again they'll last a long, long time.

Re: Question about Life Jacket

It is mandatory and you can get ticketed if its tucked away in the well of your boat. I haven't been ticketed but got an earache from a sheriff for having one in the front well while not wearing it. Even though its was legal it would've been difficult to get to during an emergency. I was only in fou...

Thread work

This is the threadwork on a couple rods I built for my youngest daughter and her husband. I painted one blank pearl blue, the other pearl purple and used three shades each of Madera poly-neon thread. My picture taking ability leaves allot to be desired! They look much nicer up close. http://bayarear...

Re: What Line Color Works?

Personally I don't think it matters at all, with or without leader material. Fish are focused on the bait not the line.

I think Lady fish would probably be good if ground into patties then fried. I tried it once filleted, the meat was good but the bones must be 10 to 1 over other bony fish.

Your reel could have anything from no water in it to a spoonful. Service it or have it serviced and be done with it. Take care of it and it will take care of you.

Here's one place to look. I purchased an inflatable and EPIRB from them. They had the best price I could find.

The majority of magazines, in my opinion, are a waste. There's little to no good information in them any longer. It seems in the 70's and 80's magazines began loading up on advertising. New Mag's popped up all over, most of which disappeared as fast as they came to market. Well its no wonder, you fi...

I'd suggest you start with 1/2 oz. weight, set the cast control so when you push the button your lure hits the ground with only about 1/2 spool rotation over. With the brakes on practice casting without trying to set distance records. Take it fishing once or twice then take off a little brake and tr...

I haven't read all the post so if someone has mentioned it I'm sorry for the repeat. Add baby powder to your wader boots and you won't have that problem nor will your feet sweat. I don't mean just a dusting, put plenty of powder in the boots before putting them on.

Thanks for the info. I had emailed them (CTS) last night. They sent the information on what I wanted to FishSticks but I haven't heard from them yet. I was hoping to hear tonight because I'm ready to get rockin' on this project that's been rolling around in my head. I guess I'll call them tomorrow. ...

CTS Blanks

Anyone have experience with CTS blanks? I'm considering ordering one and thought the helix core might be a good thing.

A few things to keep in mind, when fishing from a boat you'd get little water on or in your equipment. When fishing from a kayak the paddle splash can drown everything. Another thing is salts in the spool or soaked up in the line. I've serviced plenty of reels with pits and holes eaten through the s...

Question 1. Use lights, anything is better than nothing. Use the revolver on any bozo that tries to run you over.

Question 2. Loosen you drag enough to keep a little pressure on the fish but allow him to peel off line. You'll hear it when it goes off.

I had a third grade teacher that kicked more butt than the FWC. If our laws had any teeth to them some of this activity would stop.

Pretty much any bait you like to fish with will do. Its been slow this year for the fish to move in but the the bite has turned on although some species that you would normally see haven't been there. A friend and I will be launching from the South Park around mid day on the 31st. If your interested...
