Re: Does anyone know of a river that you can....

I forgot to mention the Peace River. I've caught shook as far north as Ft Meade. There are plenty of places to camp You can start at Zolfo Springs and float down to Arcadia and beyond. The Peace River canoe Outpost can give you plenty of info http://canoeoutpost.com/Peace/showpage.asp?page=overnight...

Re: Does anyone know of a river that you can....

There is a campground next to or in Snook Haven on the Myakka. Also, you should be able to camp along the upper portions near Sleeping Turtle Preserve. There is also park called Laurel (Road) Park that has a canoe access, but check to see if they allow overnight parking. The Chassahowitzska River is...

Boondoggle Red

Just thought I'd share my personal best red I caught recently at Boondoggle at Big Lagoon SP. Caught on a Zoom Super Fluke golden bream.

Re: Jackson Coosa Kayak

Drew Gregory is sponsored by Jackson Kayaks, take that for what it is worth. Sorry "review" was a bad choice of words...he has a good product demonstration of all the Coosa's features. that's better. That being said, unless your friend is fishing rivers and small bodies of water, he's bet...

Re: Jackson Coosa Kayak

Just go to YouTube and do a search for Coosa review. Drew Gregory has a pretty good video review of the Coosa and all the Jackson fishing kayaks. What does he use it for? I went in looking for a Coosa but discovered Jackson had a Cuda 12 which is more versatile. The11' Coosa was really designed for ...

Re: Palma Sola Bay 2-10-13

I caught 2 reds which are officially #2 and 3 of the total reds I've caught in my lifetime. Nice fish Pip. Palma Sola can be fantastic in the springtime. Lots of snook there also. If you don't mind me asking, where did you get your measuring device? It looks great and shows up well in the photo. I ...

Little Manatee River 24th Street Warning...car broken into

I launched at 24th Street near Sun City on the Little Manatee River today. The launch like many others is isolated...big surprise (I'm being fascitious) my truck got broken into. Nothing of value was stolen but it just sucks as I have to replace the drivers side window. I knew I should have left the...

Re: Palma Sola Bay 2-10-13

Thanks. The kayak is a Cuda 12. It's been a great platform so far...just need to figure out a better cooler situation. I fish a lot of inland rivers too so it's perfect for what I do...good balance of speed and maneuverability. IMO, the seat is the best...you can fish all day in comfort (and I'm com...

Palma Sola Bay 2-10-13

I WAS headed to Ft. Desoto to fish with a buddy who lives in St. Pete, but he cancelled on me so I wanted to try a new destination. I went south to Bradenton to fish Palma Sola Bay. It was WINDY!! All I could really do was drift and throw a gold spoon. I caught 2 reds which are officially #2 and 3 o...

Re: Peace River - New Years Day 2013

Hey Pip, Hows the General? The bass have been fat down in Lettuce Lake but scattered by lots of airboat traffic. Hi Henry, last I heard The General is up in NC, seminary school, I think. I am now site admin for floridariverfishing.net now...we'd love to see you back. I've made some changes to the b...

Peace River - New Years Day 2013

My daughters boyfriend is home on leave in the Army, and he wanted to do some fishing before going back to Ft. Sill, Ok. Of course I obliged! He leaves on the 2nd, and because of the wacky weather, I deliberately waited until today...for the warm weather. The water was still "feet-numbingly&quo...

I work in Plant City and know people who fish Lake Thonotosassa, and I have fished it myself. It's got some fish, but not known as a "great" fishery...fair at best...but you never know. I'd personally fish Medard or Tenoroc (or the more "famous" Polk County lakes) if I were taget...

I dont fish for them exclusively, but I'd try Medard Park near Plant City or Tenoroc in Lakeland. Drift open water with live minnows at different depths. Medard Park has hybrid stripers, so you might catch a few of those as well! Also, check out the Lakeland Ledger freshwater fishing report (updated...

I've been kayaking lakes, ponds, and rivers in central Florida for over 10 years, and have never had a problem w/ gators. I've been in the water in a 10' kayak where 6 to 8' gators are very common, and they are very shy and elusive. Once my friend an I paddled right over a larger gator in the Peace ...
