Re: NEW TO YANKEETOWN FISHING
I'd help you, but I'm a Rays fan. Hate the Yankees.

Re: Native Watercraft Slayer review
I've seen the Slayer, but have not paddled one. It looks like a great boat. The only thing I didn't like about it was the front tank well and it looks like it may turn into an issue. The reason I didn't like it was that I often get waves over the front and the front tank well was in a perfect posit...

Glad you had a good day. I did have plenty of luck, but it was all bad.

Friend is hooked on kayak fishing
Finally got to take an old friend out the other day. We have been trying to get together to fish for several years. We used to work together before he moved to Baton Rouge. He told me that he's been thinking about buying a kayak, but had never been in one. Steve fished out of my Slayer 14.5 and I pa...

I was surprised, too. But it's true. The hull design facilitates easy standing.Rik wrote:That surprises me.Gibby3474 wrote: 7. Slayer feels more stable; very easy to stand

Re: Native Watercraft Slayer review
I have had a Native Ultimate 14.5 for a couple years and love it. Can you give us the pros and con of the Slayer vs. the Ultimate? Absolutely! 1. Ultimate is a hybrid kayak 2. Slayer is a "traditional" sit-on-top 3. More storage in Ultimate 4. Slayer is self-bailing;Ultimate is not 5. Alt...

Ken,
It doesn't really seem to matter. I do well on pink, chartreuse, watermelon with red flakes, gold. I think that they're scented helps the fish home in on them.

Native Watercraft Slayer review
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a139/flherd1971/DSC05280_edited-1.jpg When the folks at Legacy Paddlesports began contemplating a new kayak last year, my thought was, "Oh, brother, just what the world needs: another sit-on-top kayak." But you can build a better mousetrap, and the Native...

Great fall action
Things were really going great. I'm hoping this cold will only slow it down a little. Prior to the cold, we were doing well on redfish, snook, trout, pompano, jacks and bluefish. In fact, fishing was just plain hot around Sarasota Bay. We've been getting trout to 6 pounds -- mostly on MirrOlure Mirr...

Jacks are back
There are some who don't care for jack crevalle, but they're an important part of things. In addition, they're been in somewhat short supply since the 2010 freeze. In 2010, my clients and I totaled maybe 10 jacks. In 2011, we caught around 40. They're not totally back, but the numbers seem to be up....

Good job! Did you use a strike indicator with the nymphs? I find them very helpful. I use these: http://www.backcountry.com/anglers-accessories-thingamabobber-3-pack?CMP_SKU=AGR0017&MER=0406&CMP_ID=GAN_GPLA&003=8219600&010=AGR0017&mr:trackingCode=B57C3FB1-1F5E-E111-B4E0-001B21A69...

Re: Lake Manatee 11/8
Good job and nice pics! I understand the attraction of topwater and how you can get "hooked" on it. However, there's a better bite subsurface. Used to be, I would head out and cast poppers until the bite ended. I'd then go home. But after I began casting nymphs, Myakka Minnows and other su...
