Favorite Rod - Schimano Sensilite. My favorite rod by far over any other I have ever used. The problem is, they quit making them about 4 years ago. I have been looking for a new favorite ever since. Rods a a pretty personal thing much more so than reels. I do not like a very stiff rod. (boy did I se...

Like JB says, try them all and decide which one you like. They are all good yaks. I am extremely happy with my Prowler 15 and that is why I recommend it. It is fast, tracks great, has a huge tankwell, a big front hatch, and the cockpit area is large and well laid out. Everyone else can tell you what...

Rik made a good point. That is why I said I use the smaller reel 95 percent of the time. I do try to use the 4000 near structure but almost all my fishing is on the open flat.

If you use the rod to fight the fish and not the reel almost any size decent reel will work for any size fish. If you use 30 lb mono you will need a bigger reel. If you think you ...

John, If you don't want to keep using power pro you better take it off your reels now. It can be a pain but once you get used to it the problems will minimize. Once you get used to the no stretch and sensitivity and castability of it you will not be able to go back to the rubberband mono. After gett...

I use 20 lb test. I can still throw a lure a long way and the wind knots are fewer and they are easier to undo. I still set the drag like I am using 10 lb test though. If you set the drag for 20 you are going to tear up a lot of equiptment.
