Right now the big ones are showing up on the deep water reefs. They are not thick enough to make them the primary species to fish for but when bottom fishing for Snapper, Grouper, ect., most good anglers have a couple of flat lines out for the Kings. I think by the letter of the law it would be illegal to keep the fish. I think by the intent of the law you could keep the fish if you caught it inshore. I don't think any enforcement officer would ticket anyone inshore. I also think that anyone using live bait should be required to use circle hooks...
