Re: Blob off our East Coast is looking "better"

Thanks Terri! I forgot it was Hurricane season, because there hasn't been any mention since Arlene. That reminds me!.... I need to pickup some spare ammo and toilet paper for the emergency kit! :thumbright:

Re: Cross Bayou - Joe's Creek?

Hey Barry, Google Earth some places on this side of the bay, like "The Kitchen" or if you live North, try Picnic Island or the VFW off Westshore South. I've been fishing an OOOLD fishin ground of mine re-discovered and it's producing fairly well. Everybody wants to stay North of that chemi...

Re: To Pinch or not to Pinch

Thanks all! Yeah, that fish was a good 4 inches bigger than my best Tbay Red. I always wanted to match that Banana River 40 incher on my home turf and I prolly came as close as I'm gonna get. Maybe now I'll try to beat my personal best Snook of 43 inches!

Re: To Pinch or not to Pinch

Nasty night to fish really.. The wind was far from calm and there was a TON of floating grass from the storms, so the use of topwater lures was next to impossible. The moon was up and two days from being full (last night), so I decided to use my stand by soft plastic rigged weedless and started catc...

Re: standing up in a kayak

I am 5'6" so standing in the water is sometimes a challenge unless there is serious low tide. I fish out of a prowler and we all know that there isnt alot of standing room but i have no problem standing in this thing i have caught many fish while standing. I feel that if you have plenty of bal...

Re: standing up in a kayak

Standing, IMO, has more to do with the person than the boat. Yes, some kayaks by design are inherently better suited for standing but that certainly doesn't mean that everyone can stand in them. If you can't stand in a boat, it likely isn't the boat's fault. I was trying to post basically the same ...

Re: Scalloping

Thanks for the info. Might have to use Google Earth to see if I can find any out of the way put-ins. Would like to see the scotty mount dive flag setup. Have a dive flag from snorkeling on the Rainbow. Cindy It's actually very simple. I just got a length of fiberglass antenae stock and epoxied a ma...

Re: Scalloping

Ozello is good, but the tides can be purdy extreme in a kayak. Came up with a neat Scotty mount dive flag a few years back if you are interested.

Re: Independence Day!!!!!!!

I will celebrate my 8th year of blissful marriage. Grill and chill in the yard then head out for a walk on the beach. CONGRATULATIONS!!! Headed out and was on the water at 5:00am. Not too bad, couple of over slot Snook and ran into that school of over slot Reds that were there Friday night! :thumbr...

Re: Warning!!!! Long Bayou & Cross Bayou

Used to be one poaching hogs and duck out of season over at Simmons. He only shows up about 4:00 am and is gone before sunup. Thus the reason I put lights on the Kayak and make sure my headlight works well. Doesn't hurt to have an extree large Zara Spook tied up in case they get TOO close..

If anybody happens to run by Simmons Park, talk to the head Ranger there. He usually has a bit MORE info about stuff like this than what you can scrape out of the media..
