Re: MacDill Ferry...

If you have Google Earth, check that area out. It goes back to 95, the reclamation area was nothing more than a part of that point. I believe the aim of that project was to restore it to what it was before they dredged all the sand to make that point.

Re: MacDill Ferry...

No ship holding area. I think that channel may have been there for a long time and part of the Adamsville community, don't really remember but there was no way a ship would ever have gotten back there. Those deep holes were dredged and the sand was used to create that point, among other things. The ...

Re: MacDill Ferry...

bye, bye kitchen :( Why do you say that Andrew? I don't think a ferry would disturb anything. The big barges coming in and out of the old phosphate loading dock didn't disturb anything. No, I take that back. That point used to be a snook breeding area for that part of the bay. When they dredged it ...

Re: MacDill Ferry...

When we moved here in 1972, there used to be ferry's that came to the old Bahia Beach pier and the Apollo Beach Pier. It ran to St. Pete and back. John, that image you posted is the point out by the Kitchen. There is a concrete facility out there now. There hasn't been any activity at the plant on h...

Re: Tampa Bay Frogman Swim - still need kayaker help!

Bring your straps and a towel.

I'll see you at the finish line.

Room for at least four kayaks, maybe more if we strap them just right. I can make multiple trips if need be.

I may be able to provide a kayak trailer and meet you at Picnic.

Unfortunately I'm not able to escort this year, but I may be able help out and get you guys back to the Gandy.

I'll let you all know in the next few days.

Re: Sabalo 2500 vs....

John, I'm a big fan of the Sabalos. I've had two as my primary reels and have never had a problem with them, and I'm pretty hard on my gear. Just for what its worth, Shimano and a few other reel manufactures follow this practice, they will introduce a reel onto the market and after a few years they ...

Hypothermia and Winter Time Fishing.

With winter now here in Tampa Bay, I’m tragically reminded that each year we lose anglers due to poor decisions and hypothermia while kayak fishing . It seems that inexperienced kayakers under estimate the water temperature here in Tampa, possibly thinking that Hypothermia is something only crab fis...
