Re: Fishing For Your Supper (pic heavy)

We took all the gear in one trip. The Native Ultimate packs up pretty well. I had a 10 x 10 canopy, an 8 man tent, a couple of camp chairs, and a cooler on board. Wouldn't have wanted to do an open water crossing, but it made a nice short distance barge.

Fishing For Your Supper (pic heavy)

The lovely Miss Daniela and I just returned from our annual end of the year camping trip. While we do quite a bit of camping in the agreeable months, this trip is always special because we like to add a challenge. Last year, we targeted four species of fish she had never caught; Sheepshead, Mayan Ci...

What's In Your Wallet?

What flies do you like to have with you while hunting Grand Slam species?

I am re-thinking my on the water flybox.

Thanks,

Re: We lost a great guy today

I saw Mark last Thursday after paddling his beloved Double Branch. He gave me a thumbs-up sign after telling him where I'd been. He didn't speak, but seem to be in good spirits. Hard to believe he only had a few days left, but happy he didn't suffer much. He was a good guy. I am honored to have know...

Flyfishing Baby Tarpon in The Everglades (pic heavy)

Just got back from a week of flyfishing in The Everglades. My target was Baby Tarpon. The goal was to catch at least one Baby Tarpon each day for a week on a fly I tied myself. I'm not exactly known for my flytying abilities and I caught my first Tarpon on a fly in February. This February. This was ...

Daniela's First Tarpon

The lovely Miss Daniela and I headed out in the rain this afternoon to look for some friendly Everglades Baby Tarpon. She had only jumped one once before, but I had it on good authority that they were present and agreeable. Our first venue offered a few lackadaisical strikes at a floating spider (di...

Birthday Poon

Well it took damned near 5 months and literally hundreds of hours, but I finally caught my first (decent) Tarpon on a fly. While I had jumped two this Season that were ten times her size, this little beauty graced my presence on what would have been my dearly departed mother's 76th birthday. I am do...
