Re: Anchor Trolley Questions

If you fish creeks where you can't get out of the boat, you'll probably want the full trolley. Rik is right, most of the time you'll be anchoring off the stern or midships, but when you are in a creek and want to make a natural presentation with the current, being able to anchor off the bow comes in...

Smoked Bonito Fish Dip (Oh Yes I Did)

Seems to be more than a bit of controversy as to whether or not civilized humans should consume Bonito, but I seem to remember enjoying some smoked Bonito when I first moved to Florida many moons ago. This lil 20 pounder was gut hooked and destined to be crab food so the experiment was on. http://i2...

GT Knot

My new favorite for line to leader connection. Works on the principle of Chinese finger cuffs. In this case, it is uniting 30# braid with 80# leader. Slick as snot. http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj259/guitarteacher/photo-14.jpg Yeah, I know it looks like a big fish will pull the leader right ou...

Re: Moving to Tampa

I've only had luck with tailers by casting past them and stripping the fly so that it falls where they are feeding (I'm not quite accurate enough to drop a fly right in front of their noses). They don't seem to mind being lined while tailing, as long as it's the leader and not the flyline.

Re: flurocarbon - "the geeks don't want no freaks"

Bollox Now now no need for that kind of language. Let's look at it logically. A Tarpon is nothing if it isn't a hard surfaced fish. While fighting them they are turned away from us. The line is laying against the fishes face and body depending on the angle. Changing angles (Which is the right thing...
