Golf Course Bass

I caught this bass yesterday in a golf course lake - released her back in.

Measured 22 3/4" and I estimated it at 7.1 lbs

She took a noisy top water plug

Re: Peacocks near Naples ?

ChrisR, Thanks for the link to Bob Bramletts nice article and photos of peacock bass he says were caught in Golden Gate are of Naples. I have not taken the time yet to check it out. But I will soon. I did get over to Miami again about 10 days ago and fished one evening and the next morning. The peac...

Re: Cape Coral Largemouth Bass

The bass bite is pretty much on - mornings and evenings. Two and three pounds and a few heavier. Plastic worm still good and am taking some on Heddon Baby Torpedo top water. All bank fishing so far but I am going to fish from kayak because you can access much more shoreline. The Cape Coral canals an...

Re: Cape Coral Big Tilapia

I finally caught a large tilapia and it gave a decent fight. A surprise on a small lead jig with plastic curly tail.

I believe it is a blue tilapia. Can anyone confirm this?

Re: Sheepshead... on topwater!

OK, now that we have our sheepshead,

How good are they to eat ( fileted) compared to redfish filets?

Re: Sheepshead... on topwater!

Wow, I have only been able to catch sheepshead on a small hook baited with a piece of shrimp.

Might have been a time to free line a Gulp crab.

Re: Cape Coral Largemouth Bass

GILs - thanks/ I like both salt and fresh fishing. I am lucky here on Pine Island. When it is too windy to kayak fish the salt flats, I can always run over to nearby Cape Coral for bass. I need now to force myself to leave the spinning rods home and try to land a few bass on flies. I have a good ass...

The Bite is On

I fished the Cape Coral canals Saturday and Sunday. The bite was good in the morning and late afternoon. I tried a plug with no luck. Switched to a plastic worm and caught a dozen or so bass each day. Green, black and motor oil colored worms all seemed to work. The bass liked a swimming worm better ...

Re: Peacocks in Lakes and Canals of Miami

DaveR - I would like to have the peacocks closer to us west coasters - they may do well in Golden Gate Canal system in Naples if there is some deep water where they can hide in a freeze - i never expect to see any here in Lee County - good luck with the 2013 tarpon

Re: Peacocks in Lakes and Canals of Miami

I will try to post photos of three peacocks I caught yesterday in Miami. They differ alot in markings on and near the tail. Each photo is just before release and each fish has a few inches of water over it. http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff121/dollarduck/bth_2013-04-21103516.jpg http://i242.phot...

Re: Peacocks in Lakes and Canals of Miami

I have photos of three peacocks caught yesterday, Sunday morning in a Miami lake.
Do not remember how to attach the photos (they are stored on Photobucket) but will try copy and paste.
Well that did not work so I will need to call my IT Guy for help.

Re: Peacocks in Lakes and Canals of Miami

Going over to Miami for the weekend for a family birthday. I will fish for peacocks mainly and largemouths if they are biting. Light spinning gear only, jigs and small plugs. All, catch and release. I usually catch a few big bluegill on these same lures. The water should be warmer than on my trip ju...

Cape Coral Largemouth Bass

The water in the Cape Coral canals has cleared after that last heavy rain when it muddied for a few days. And I have started catching bass on green plastic worms and a white skirted spinner bait. I need to try a topwater plug or fly rod popper soon as some bass have been nailing the worm on top at t...

Kinda what I suspected.

Re: White River, Cotter Arkansas ... Caddis Hatch and the Tr

Hillbilly,

Do you know if the rainbows and browns in the White River, Ark. are wild fish?
