Re: SUP's (StandUpPaddleboards)

Ok, Krash, you are still relatively young. I would love to stand up in a kayak but gave up some time ago because the kayaks that allow that (for me) are heavy and broad of beam like the ones made by Malibu and others. My solution here on the flats and oyster bars around Pine Island is to anchor up t...

Re: SUP's (StandUpPaddleboards)

OK, have fun on your paddle boards you younger dudes.

I am thin enough but balance is a far cry from the old days.

So, I will stick to a SOT kayak.

Re: destinations forum

I have been enjoying this site for about 10 years now since moving from Oregon to Florida. It appears to me that a new approach is to try to cover the entire the entire USA and Canada? Not sure how this will work. For example, California has several great kayak fishing sites and I know that I will g...

Re: Neighborhood Ponds

Great Report............. reminds me to get out to the Cape Coral lakes and ponds in the morning and evening. I love it when they take top water plugs.

Re: SWFKAA ?

Yes, I hope they can regroup. I think they were looking for a new web master.

I do enjoy the site as many of the posts related to launch areas around Charlotte Harbor and Matlacha near Pine Island where I live.

Re: Safety

The body lanyard sounds like a good idea and I am going to rig one up. I always wear a PDF and have my paddle tethered to the kayak but, if I got washed overboard the kayak could get away in the turmoil. And, I always study wind and tide forecasts before committing to a launch. Yes, be safe up there...

Re: SUP's (StandUpPaddleboards)

Well I'll be darned.

I wish I had tried an SUP when I was younger and before my balance went iffy.

Do they make them with snowboard type strap in shoes?

Re: SUP's (StandUpPaddleboards)

If you fish from a paddleboard, where do you keep all of the fishing gear and cooler full of cool drinks and lunch?

Sounds like this variation may be for strong young dudes.

Re: Longboat Key

Quick coffee and donut or trailmix in the morning then hit the snook. First stop is the pass between North Longboat and Bradenten Beach. You can fish the south side of that pass and the north side. then you can continue around along the Gulf shore. The locals seem to like soft plastics on 1/4 oz or ...

Re: Help First time fishing Stuart, FL area

My avid fisherman contact in Stuart says the trout fishing in the ICW/Stuart has been poor. The suspected reasons are the intense pressure, the (perhaps) too big a bag limit and especially the fact that commercial fishing for trout is allowed by permit and there are more commercial trout permit hold...

Re: ? Largemouth Bass News

Not aware of where you are catching the big ones jbdba)1 but nice to read your report. I used the rapala flatrap 6 which is about 3" long for baby tarpon and caught many, some on the silver color. Will try it now for Cape Coral bass. On a recent visit to the ER in the Lee Memorial Hospital, Cap...

Re: ? Largemouth Bass News-Update

I tried a topwater plug several evenings this week in a lake in Cape Coral. The lake has lots of bass and mayan cichlids. Caught bass mostly 1 to 3 # in size especially when I worked the plug near shore. Also caught a few larger Mayans on the same bass plug. The bass were just as active in the same ...
