I got my reel yesterday. I'm not sure if it wasn't properly lubed at the factory, but the gears in the one that I bought are anything but smooth. The drag is smooth enough, but when you turn the handle, its like you can feel the teeth of the gears meeting eachother. There aren't any grinding noises...
