I have several pair of wading boots. I like these the best for Florida. The neoprene uppers have micro holes in them which stops the suction on your foot. Sometimes a neoprene wading boot will build up enough suction that it feels like your toenails will be pulled out. http://store1.yimg.com/I/tackl...

I have light gray, light gray and sand. I picked those based on personal preference. I am not a yellow or orange kayak kind of guy. I went with the lighter colors as the darker colors do get hot to the touch in the summer. However, a lot of folks have the darker colors and I never hear them complain...

I've stayed away from the Diawas and Shimanos, primarily because I don't want to buy a reel that I'll need to replace in 2-3 years. After saying some unkind things about the newer 2500, I do have to add that I have 5 Stradics. A 2000 and four 4000s. Two of the 4000s are from the first year of the w...

If you use the rod to fight the fish and not the reel almost any size decent reel will work for any size fish. I agree completly except in those cases where you really have to control the fish fast. Next to mangroves and dock pilings are a good example. Yes, you can grab the spool but you lose a lo...

The 2000 is the older model, the 2500 is the newest, I think the past 2 years. My 3 year old 2000 is smooth as new. Dave's 2500 - what is it, Dave, your 3rd one now? - is junk. I thought that was a sneaky move on Shimanos part. The Stradic series was being used by every salt fisherman on the flats f...

Re: Power Pro Poll
Just your everyday throw a spoon across a flat or maybe pitch to a few mangroves stuff. This was a dual vote deal for me. I have 10# on the "throw a spoon across the flat" rod. I have 15# on a couple reels for doing stuff that causes tangles. Its just a lot easier to work with. Thankfully...
Ray, There's a silver camp and a gold camp. I prefer gold but have stood next to 3 other guys using silver who were catching and I wasn't. I switched and started catching too. My 2 cents - I think gold works better in darker water, silver in lighter water. Down in Sarasota Bay, gold is better. Silve...
