My crate has been through several evolutions, but the current version works very well for carrying 4 rods.
The brackets are made from 1/2" "Starboard" available at marine supply
stores.

Depends on the situation, but on a normal day I carry 3 baitcasters and one spinning rod.

I like the flat trajectory & pinpoint accuracy of a baitcaster, but also appreciate the screaming drag of a spinning reel.
