"dirty water" and redfish....

Post by jbdba01 »

I've been really struggling with getting on reds in dirty water.

Are there better colors/lures that you favor in dirty water?

I've been using plastics, gold spoons, top water (until about 9/9:30), yellow mirrodine.

The best lure for dirty water seemed to be a white/green plastic. Probably looks like a small thread.

The red/gold combo worked nicely for big trout.

or arkansas glow.

slow down your retrieve a little. Reds don't see all that well so you have to give them a chance to zero in on the bait.
Paddles - they aren't just for the bedroom anymore.

I like to go with dark or bright baits in darker water. (light and natural colors in clear water)

Black, Chartreuse, Gold, Glow, Ark Glow, Golden Bream, Gold Rush.

I like throwing soft plastics and spoons. Dark water is one where I would chose a plastic that sends out the most vibrations....i.e. I would use a shad tail, paddle tail grub, curly tail over a jerkbait. It also doesn't hurt to throw a rattle in your bait if you can.

Or go find the cleaner water and there will be more redfish?
