Paddle In / Swap Meet **Date TBD - Fort Desoto**

Post by Heywood »

So I was thinking its been a long time since we had a Paddle In, so how about we get one together. We can also throw in a Swap Meet, as I know that's been brought up before.

This post as been edited to give us time to pick a better date, in order to get more involvement. Stay tuned.

Holy shit...the reports of the death of this forum are overstated. I will be there.

Great idea Heywood.

For those that don't know, a Paddle In is an informal get together. Show up when you want, leave when you want. There will likely be some sort of mini tournament going on that you can participate in or not. We may even have a casting competition or other fun things to play around with. Or we may not.

There really is no one in charge

Having MarkR pitch in to do some cooking - again! - is an added bonus. He cooked a fish fry after one of the PFTS events - Read about it here - and everyone went away fat and happy. We could turn this into another fish fry if enough people catch fish.

Come on out for a couple hours or the whole day. And no, you don't have to wear a name tag. Unless you want to.

Honestly thinking of just cancelling this. 3 replies is not a Paddle-In.

Steve, John, Mark, maybe we can get together at another location.

Bill, maybe it needs a bit more time for folks to see. We only gave it 2 weeks, maybe we try again with a bit more lead time. A month or so???

Yeah, I'll look at other dates. Was trying to fit it in between tournaments, the Masters, other stuff.

Ya know, that's just the damn problem! This was/is a fun fishing forum, a kayak fishing forum. Our tournaments are/were - fun tournaments...with a small cash prize. It seems like the focus has shifted to pro fishing tourneys, tarpon and king fishing. This is wrong! There is still a lot to learn in flats, flounder, red and snook fishin! The foundation of this forum is the average Joe or Rik, trying to learn how to fish from a kayak. And helping each other to accomplish that! Somehow when Eric left, the focus shifted to a tournament based forum. It needs to revert to a fishing forum that helps newbies and gives the old farts a place to brag. Ummmm, rant over...maybe! Maybe!
We need to do paddle in's, we need to do camping trips, we need to do road trips. We need to get butts in boats and fish!
Yall all slackin off, mee too. Get off it! I will!

I agree with most of what MarkR said. I learned so much from this forum and it's members. I say we give this paddle-in another try. Pick a date farther out and lets give this time to percolate. I think a notice about this on the PF Facebook page would also help to spread the word.
