nov 11 lowtide reds

Post by seeinred »

After a stellar day yesterday, I really wanted to get back out after 'em today but just couldn't bring myself to get up that early. At 8:30 I rolled out of bed and by 9:00 I was launching the yak.
After a pretty good paddle I made it out to the flat and was greeted by zero wind, gin clear water, and glass calm conditions.

First I looked for the big trout I was on yesterday, I whacked a bunch of low slots and a couple in the low 20's. I knew the bite wasn't going to be as good as yesterday because of how late I had gotten out, so I opted to look for reds instead.

Casting to potholes with dark green/red fleck jerkbaits I picked up several reds in the upper to over slot range.

After that the tide got high enough for boats to get up on the flat, they motored all over the flat looking for God knows what, putting all the reds on the spook.

I drifted some deeper flats and caught close to 20 trout, atleast 10 on consecutive casts on the same jerkbait then decided to call it a day. Off the water by 2.

Very nice! At least you caught some reds before the boats ran through. What kind of jerkbaits were ya throwing?

Nice Spencer! Glad to see you are staying on those fish. Get ready for boat traffic to move to high gear with the snow birds on the water.

You never call to go fishing together anymore :?

I hope you have a great winter hitting fish in areas like you did today. Hopefully the mooks from last winter forgot what info they piggybacked off your knowledge last year.

Neil I was just thinking the other day that we haven't fished together in a long time.

Anytime you want to get out let me know, maybe a little Double Branch in the winter?

And yes, I'm hoping they've forgotten too, but that's normally the way things happen until someone catches word...
