No fuss, no muss, no bother

Post by JayB »

I wanted to fish this morning but I didn't feel like getting all geared up. So I plopped the 5 wt. in the back of the truck and headed out in search of bluegill.

I ended up at Lake Rogers park. In two hours I caught about 10 nice bluegills. Two of them were big 'ol copperheads. The rest were palm size.

The best part was coming home. Unload one rod. Done.

I could get used to that. Any freshwater lakes in Tampa that are accessible from shore and suitable for fly fishing. I'd sure like to know about them. This was definitely an enjoyable morning.

Thanks to Mother and Mudfoot for getting me started.

Medard is about the best Spec lake in the area. Never fished it from shore.

Where do you go?

very nice....I would have preferred a flyrod but sounds a bit crowded.

I've got no problem grabbing specs anyway I can.

You could roll cast or wade but watch for Gators, I see a lot of Latino folks netting Tilapia while wading and I don't think any of them have got eaten

I'd be real reluctant to wade at Meddard, not only gators but the bottom drops off at a severe angle in a lot of those areas. Not that you can't, just saying be real careful.
