Central Florida and high gas prices

Post by yohan1973 »

OK, you boys and girls out in Tampa might not have this issue (Spoiled brats) but a few of us out here in Orlando have to drive a nice distance to get to the salty stuff. Also, with the dramatic increase in gas prices, I might be making fewer trips to the coast. So, I'm thinking freshwater will rule this year. Anyone else out there thinking they might forgo the salty stuff for the sake of their wallets?

P.S. before you make any comments Forced2work, my woman is away for the summer starting tomorrow. She will be stationed in Texas for a while. Old Yohan WILL be doing plenty of fishing!!!!!!

You have a woman? What a let down, you were such an oddity-a black gay guy who fly fishes out of a kayak, not many of those around.

I thought she was going to Texas to become a woman. Just go to rev's house and throw that new skiff into his lake, you people are good at stealing stuff right?

If you like lots of action try some the lakes at the Teneroc Fish Management area. Not to far from Orlando.

Why do people always find it necessary to bitch about where they chose to live?
Just playin with you Yohan. If I had to drive more than 10 miles to a beach, I'd probably move to the freshwater myself.
New place, new fishing adventures.

Gas prices do suck horrendously now, BUT, anybody notice the cost of the gear and tackle has increased just as much as gas? :?

Like Cordell said fish now and fish a lot, it's not getting any cheaper......What most fail to mention in most cases is that your income has increased somewhat as well unless your in the home construction or building business or related in some way..........

Yohan, check out the Hilochee Management area ponds just south of Cleremont. Its $3 a day, only open on saturdays, and no motors allowed.

I use a little Suzuki Sidekick to haul ass around here and on the Everglades...its small but does gets excellent mileage and is 4wh drive plus I dont give a rats ass about it...I live 8 miles from the flats but chose to drive up to 20 miles or better to launch sometimes..I get 2.5round trips to the flats for a gallon of gas but working on bringing my truck down from Alaska to at least get some dignity back when not fishing even if I have to pay a little extra
