Hillsborough River

Post by Broken12 »

I've lived in Florida a majority of my life and I've never fished the Hillsborough River. I did recently, launching at Hillsborough River State Park.

The river was up because of recent rain and flowing pretty good. Fishing in the river was very slow. But I found some water off the main river that was fairly productive.

I caught fish on my Skitterbug, Myakka Minnow and No. 10 nymph. Caught quite a few bluegill, shellcracker and redbreast sunfish. I'd never caught redbreast sunfish before. Also caught a couple of small bass and a gar.

My rating: 7 out of 10. I'd go back.

I'm not here to be liked. I do this for the good of the paddle-fishing community.

fantastic colors, there should a "panfish slam" and grand slam...it think you'd need the pumpkinseed and crappie for the grand, awesome pics
