First Big Blue Tilapia

Caught this one in a Cape Coral lake this past Sunday.

Released after the picture. Nice filets but not sure about the water quality.

I was catching large bluegill in the same spot.
Be thankful for every day and especially those fine days on the water

I have since caught one a few inches longer and another about 2 " shorter.

I am amazed to see them take a small beetle spin lure. I do not see a tilapia spawning circle so wonder what they are trying to protect? Perhaps some of their own fry? There are many bluegills where these tilapia are.
