I must be a dinosaur, still shooting the last of the all manual FILM (remember Ektachrome?) Nikons, the F2A, bought in 1978 at the PX in Nurnburg, Germany.
Looking to move into the digital SLR world - hoping for input from you folks on making the transition to the digital realm.
#1 question is on the ease/difficulty of managing aperture/shutter speed, depth of field. It's almost 2d nature with my old camera, but the feature sets on the digitals are mind-numbing. Maybe I'm just getting old...

Once you get used to the position of 2 dials on a digital it is easier to change settings than on the OLD Nikon. f-stops are no longer on the lens but changed by a dial on the camera body. That same dial can have more than one function.
Keep in mind that none of your old Nikon "stuff" will work properly on a digital body. The lens will mount but not give you the features the body is capable of.
Exposure is just like shooting Chrome, if that is what you are used to.
It would be worth the drive to Palm Harbor to buy and get personel lessons here : Lake Shore Camera Exchange, 727-938-6594
They do have a website too.
