I picked up 10 spoons from Mike before the company in Pennsylvania bought him out........He told me not much would change.......I had a feeling then he would break out on his own again........I have to give him a call and pick up a few of his new stuff......

Nice. Capt. Mike's are about the only spoons I buy and use. I caught my largest redfish ever on one of his spoons. Those new colors/designs are looking good.

Just talked with Mike, he is doing well. Guess the company that bought him out had some production issues, they had moved it to Mexico to cut cost....things happened, he did not have a non-compete people were calling him, so he decided to go back in the spoon business. He was always a tremendous supporter of both the OLC and my fishing team, so I am glad to see him back. Cant wait to order some of these new spoons and try them out.

not being a big fan of spoons, I throw the Johnson's Silver Minnow every once in a while and used Capt. Mike's at the OLC.....these new designs look more interesting than the old ones....I gotta give them a shot.....did notice that the hook still sticks out farther than usual; I wonder if that increases hook ups

Are these as "weedless" as the Johnson's Silver Minnows?

I was given a 3/8 oz captain Mikes spoon and I haven't used it yet. I hope to get out on the water next Saturday.

Buy one and find out?

In my past experience they are not as weedless, but still very effective. I cannot comment on the new ones as I have not used one yet.

I was kinda hoping Eric could get us P-Fer's a good deal on the box set. Even still, yeah, I'd love to try them. :D

Spoon is it me???

Post by Kayakpirate »

I guess it must be me! I just don't seem to have any luck ever using a spoon. I hear people catching reds with a spoon but can't seem to find my nitch landing anything using a spoon. Trolling, gig, walk the dog what is my problem?
