How to Fillet fish with one hand (video of the day)

Post by Fishman »

Someone asked me to show a video of how to Fillet a red fish and trout with one hand. Technically" I'm useing two hands but, I never let go of the knife. I only touch the fish with one hand the other one stays clean.I try to keep one hand clean just in case I need to go in the house to get more bags or answner the phone. You naver know...

How else would you do it? I don't believe I have ever seen anyone use "two hands".

I'm thinking the same thing. Like that dexter Russle knife though. Cuts like butta.

Must be a "Texas thing", I heard they usually rip the fish apart with their hands and teeth sans knife.

They do usually use a knife, but it is normally a Bowie Knife

cleaning fish.

Been using that method to clean fish since I was 10 years old. Except I don't cut through the bones against the fingers.

I guess one small slip and you would have to start filleting with one hand.

That's just gross.
But that is the way I learned to do it - using TWO hands - one on the fish and one on the knife. Why is this video so special???

That's how I do it, too. And I top it off with a little New Shimmer floor polish/dessert topping!

(BTW...glad everyone chimed in to mention that this is not a special way of filleting a fish...this is the only way I've seen it done--though usually with less effort)

You can always tell a Texan, you just can't tell them much!!

What a crock, why is one handed there's two hands in every shot of the video.

I've seen Raydawg clean fish in half the time, and twice as clean!
