Looks like Ida might pester us for several days on her circle route.

Ida is poised to head over an area with extra high tropical cyclone heat potential which would provide some unwanted fuel for her. Yuck.

You can say that again. I may be old, but I will have my fins and boogie board ready this week. How often to you get to do that here on the west coast.
Being out on the water in the kayak is the prize. Catching fish is the bonus.

That's what I'm saying, it's a shame that they come with such a price for us humans, but there's nothin better than a good storm in the gulf to me!

Anyone ever fish during a storm? When Charley was coming, my dad and I were watching the storm's track closely, and when it turned east into BG, we headed out fishing. The bite was on FIRE that day, we caught nearly 50 snook on topwater. Seemed like every fish was feeding in the area.

Spencer - Like you, I love these storm but I don't want to see people getting hurt or losing their property. (On the other hand, we could use just a strong enough storm to give those in the FL construction industry some work.)

Ida seems to keep having her eye on Tampa. Here is the 10 am:

With a name like Ida I'm guessing Longboat Key.

She now has winds of 70 mph and increasing. Probably back to a hurricane very soon.

Not in the Gulf. We'd call that SURFING, not fishing. lol

Ida is a Cat 1 and approaching Cat 2 category.

The "Thurs, 1 am" on the forecast track below if for that last point - the one bringing her close to Tampa and supposedly as an extra-tropical event. (Wider area of winds and lotta rain).
