"They rent a kayak, the tide comes up and they just get stuck down in the river."

Businesses who rent kayaks or waverunners or boats should be more careful.

People who rent or use kayaks or waverunners or boats should be smarter and know the weather, tides, their "craft" etc.

Thank god for the Coasties!

I've spent the night marooned on a mangrove island and it never occured to me to call the Coast Guard. Just one more example of the gimmeee gimmee youth of today.(says the old coot)

Gee, I was taught to just find a safe place and wait until morning to go home. Guess getting a dozen people out of bed to come get me never crossed my mind.

Of course, the time daylight came and I was anchored in the middle of the Intracoastal Waterway did concern me a little. I thought we were in a small creek :D

Think they yelled for their Mommy before calling the Coasties?

Wow, six whole hours! I would have waited until morning out of pure embarrassment. It wasn't like they were out in the middle of the gulf or something.

I wonder how many other coastal counties in Florida don't have rescue boats. The Panga 22 is a sweet boat.

That's hilarious, they say they won't go kayaking for a while, probably a good idea, they should stick to something they know like video games.

Sometimes I just wonder how in the world did the pioneers ever make it. Obviously they were a tougher breed and the truth is some of them didn't make it either but, under the circumstances I guess I could see why. Man, are we spoiled.
