I can honestly say that the final demise of the boat was at no fault of the manufacturer. Although the boat had its faults and I feel lucky that I did not experience some of the issues that other owners had, I still have not found a kayak that I like as much as the Phoenix 160. They don't make the 160 any more and the 140 didn't have "it" for me.

It was only a matter of time before the boat became a serious safety concern. The last ride out I actually heard the boat crack. Not a sound you want to hear when you're a few miles from the launch especially when you cannot identify where the sound came from. Upon inspection when I returned home, I found the damage. I thought letting my nephew use the boat because he has taken a sudden interest in kayaking but decided it was best to put her down for safety reasons.

Hmmm... maybe I'll have to look at one of these.

I think the tag on the front of the truck should be nailed to the tree that's behind the kayak ... "Parts Plus". ha!!

I talked to my buddy who is selling the Tarpon 160 and you might need to gimme a PM..
On the other hand, I fell completely in love with the "Current Designs" "ZONE". It's a sit on top at 17.5 feet in length and is 24" wide. looks alot like the P-160, but FAST!! Many sit in side ocean kayakers say, "This is the only SOT I would ever own!" If ya like that kinda boat... It's only a skosh under $2500 and is worth every penny!
