Great pics Bill. Thanks for coming out.
I've kayaked this event twice, but this was my first time in the swim. I've always had great respect for those who swam it, but believe me when I say, that respect has grown tenfold after experiencing it myself.
My sincere appreciation to all who donated to my fundraising effort, and to all who came out to support this great event!!

Nice pics Bill.
I think that everyone who acted as a kayak escort will tell you that it was a great experience. The swimmers are all very appreciative of our efforts guiding them across the bay.
Every year they need more kayakers with experience. Again this year there were many 8 foot kayaks being paddled by absolute newbies. Some I suspect borrowed the kayak from a neighbor and this was their first time out. Upside down paddles - dozens of them are a big clue. The weather, while a bit chilly at the start, was kind this year. In years past there have been weather challenges which made it a difficult paddle.
When this comes around next year I hope that many of the folks on this site will sign up to be a kayak escort. It's personally rewarding and they really do need guys who know how to paddle a kayak. We are people who get out on the water a lot in our kayaks so we have a lot of experience and knowledge to handle what ever is thrown at us.
There will be plenty of notice when they start the sign up.

Re: 2014 Tampa Bay Frogman Swim Pictures
It was a great morning. This was my second year and the experience from last year really helped. Last year I though the purpose of the kayak escort was to just watch the swimmer to make sure he didn't drown. This year I realized that the escort was part of a team that keeps the swimmer on course provides encouragement. It was also great to have my son Cole along this year, his first year to escort a swimmer.
Heywood. No problem about the picture, I not very photogenic anyway. There is one you missed, however. While you guys were loading the last kayak on your trailer, the next to the last swimmer came in to a standing ovation.
This is not my picture, but here is Dobe finishing the race.
That in itself was worth the time and effort. Here is part of the story.

Just ran across this photos reading some Frogman stuff today.
I was the swimmer with Steve Manning on Sunday and can't thank Steve enough for the support across the bay. He kept me straight and true the whole time! The support of all the kayakers is just fantastic and that race couldn't go off without you guys. As a swimmer of the race I can tell you it is very much appreciated.

Came here to learn about kayak fishing as I just picked up a used Kayak and found this thread. That last pic is my good friend, Dobe. I'm on the right helping him out for the second year. He never ceases to inspire.
