As many of you may know, Heywood has had a couple years of medical difficulties. I think my tally from the number of times he's said he had another blood test adds up to about 3 gallons. The different diagnosis that he's had could fill a medical journal.
Heywood is headed to the Mayo clinic on Tuesday (finally! ) to see what the best of the best can figure out. Who knows, maybe they'll find something new and name it after him. Heywooditis.
Best wishes, Bill, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they find what it is and have a solution. Need you well again because, as you can see, I need a better cameraman!
Get well brother!

We are all rooting for you Bill.
Being out on the water in the kayak is the prize. Catching fish is the bonus.

Get Well, Brother..........
Re: Bro hug for our buddy Bill
Spoke with him last night. He is anxious to get there and hopefully finally get some answers. I wished him well and told him there would be many prayers sent his direction. It is heartwarming to see all the support and I know it means the world to him.

Hey, thanks guys. Its been a while since I've been on the water much less poked around here on the forum. My body and mind just hasn't been in the mood.
So after seeing several doctors in Tampa and a couple of really scary episodes after what are considered pretty benign treatments, with the support of my boss I came up to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota. I've been here since the 5th of August, and we are still waiting for a confirmed diagnosis.
Many of you may know what's been going on, but for those that don't, for several years I have been dealing with an steady decrease in my strength. At times its all I can do to hold the steering wheel to drive home. I just didn't feel it was very safe for me to venture out on the water
What I do know at this point is this; they found a mass on my left adrenal gland. Subsequent test confirmed that I have Primary Aldosteronism or Conn's Syndrome. This has caused my uncontrolled high blood pressure, which has been controlled in the last six months with a large amount of medication. It could be causing my muscle weakness as well.
I've seen and had several Neurology tests, (EMG) that ruled out Muscular Dystrophy, but I still need to see a Neuromuscular Specialist to rule out any other muscle disorders. I came up here to get a muscle biopsy, which three of the doctors here feel would be a good idea. Its just a matter of seeing the specialist, which is tough due to the number of appointments.
I still have some kidney tests to do, they did find some minor issues with my kidneys during a biopsy and I have some more test on Monday.
I would like to thank everyone for the support, the continued messages day to day help keep my spirits up. This is a pretty amazing place, very well run and organized.
Thanks again and I hope to see all of you on the water soon.
