Yes, it does feel like 108 degrees outside.

It has been just two weeks since my minor surgery and I was dying to get back on the water. Yesterday I ventured out for a few hours. Got on the water just before sun up and caught this nice sunrise.

Was a slow day. The fishing report in order was Spanish mackerel, trout, jack, trout, pin fish, and sail cat. Was back at the launch by 10:00 am. Great to be back on the water, but the body is not ready for a much longer trip yet. Was loaded up and headed home before it got too hot.
Being out on the water in the kayak is the prize. Catching fish is the bonus.

Hmmm, old guns staying in and young gun heading out. I'd like to think its because the old guys have learned the lesson from going out on days like this and being miserable. Of course, Spencer may just be trying to fool us into thinking he's a tough guy. Photographic proof is required!

Gee does this mean I am one of the young guys?

No, you're a Florida newbie. You haven't learned yet.

Went yesterday...

Lost my favorite topwater plug to a red (bottom one), stumbled across several nice schools of reds mixed with Jacks, lost a snook, couple Jacks, bunch of lady fish, tons of rays and sharks, and the obligatory trout. Off by 10:30am.

Tons and tons of bait out there.

Color of choice was white, but green peeled some reds out of the schools. They just wouldn't commit...

From what I could tell they look above slot.

Transitioning from poon to inshore.

Went to the beach last weekend and from 10 am forward it looked like this.

116? Swimming pool weather. Definitely not fishing weather.

Still better than where I was a couple/few weeks ago. Dry heat or not it was bloody hot. I'll take FL heat any day over that.

I went out Sunday morning, it was dead calm up till about 1:00 and the sweat was running down my face so hard I could hardly keep my glasses clear. I fished around the CC and did manage to catch a nice little snook and two nice flounder. When I got up at 5:00 to get my gear ready to go it was so darn hot I almost said the heck with it and went back to bed. If I hadn’t caught those fish I would have been real disappointed. It is tough to get out in that heat, especially in my older age, 29 years ago I wouldn’t have given it a second thought.

My thoughts in this heat is "How bad do I need to catch a fish" versus "How nice will it be to catch up on some Z's" I set the alarm and see how I feel when it wakes me up.
