freedom hawk ?

any one know any thing about these, i was told they are like trying to paddle a log, is this true?

Heavy and slow. I know a guy in Jacksonville that had one. It worked great in the lake behind his house, he tried to car top it once and the boat has never left the lake behind his house since.

I'd wager it's simply a trade-off. To a degree, you always sacrafice speed for stability, or in this case, the ability to stand easily.

took it out, wow

, in the past couple weeks i have tryed the malibu x factor and the emotion mojo, in my opinion the freedom hawk did not paddle any harder than they did, i used it in the wind and it tracked great and kept going forward with out any trouble. the last trip out i was in the malibu and it was tippy, while out in the freedom with the "pontoons" in, it was more stable than the others. when i put out the "pontoons" i had to look and see if i was stuck on a manatee, it was like being aground on a sand bar. the kayak was unreal even with out the leaning post in the up position i could go from setting to on my knees then stand with out using the stand up rope. i was able to walk around in the kayak with no trouble at all. i am 5'10" and about 250lbs. so for a kayak to allow me to do that was wow

i will be buying one here shortly the other thing i liked about this was the open front area, will allow for a fish bag to be installed in the boat and still have room for a cooler and there is room behind the seat for the ole milk crate. and in the pontoons there is a lot of storage space. using the kayak with the supplied push pole was a great way to move quiet and in the fishing position.

That was the part that got me. Those malibus are incredibly stable. Not good for long or fast paddles but very stable and comfortable.

Like I said earlier the only Kayak I ever flipped was my X-Factor twice......The initial stabilization seems tippy but the secondary stabilization is solid....The 2 times I flipped it I was way over the edge of stability IE overconfident.........my mistake not the boats.........All that being said I would still own a X-Factor.......

when i said it was tippy that was when comparing it to the freedom hawk , but before i tryed the hawk i loved the x-factor, had alot of storage and great size, and it was stable for not having any pontoons. when i buy my second kayak it will be the x factor. just right now for doing the tours and fishing kayak trips the hawk will work better as a platform for instructing my customers.
