How to tie the "Gurgleroach"

Post by Vercetti »

Pretty simple fly, its quick, fun and it catches fish.

Step #1 - No. 1 Gamakatsu Saltwater Wide-gap hook, using mono for thread.

Step #2 - Tie in 4 Barred Strung Neck Hackle Natural. Trim to fit. You could go with 2 if you prefer.

Step #3 - Palmer in an additional hackel towards the eye.

Step #4 - Tie in foam and trim to size (sip beverage, repeat steps 1-4)

Nice and simple. Ever try to tie in the foam then palmer the hackle?

Jon

Thanks for the pictures and recipe. You have to love those gurglers.

BTW - Do you tie down each side of the foam seperately and whip finish it or do you tie one side down and work the thread to the other side to finish?

I'm sure whiping both sides would add some security, I've never done it though.

BF - Have not tried that yet...will have to explore that option.
