From Iraq

Post by Chief1600 »

Yesterday I received one of the best pieces of mail I've ever gotten. I thought it would be nice to share with everyone here. For those who contributed to this effort, thank you all.

Not sure how clear this will come out so here is the text of the note;

"3 Jan 2010

Mr. Leonard -
I am one of the service members who have used the flies you and your friends sent us. I wanted to express my appreciation and let you know they work. Thanks to you and the members for making our time in Iraq a little more enjoyable.

Mike Riley
Colonel of Marines"

Once again, thank you to those who helped with this effort and thank God for our service men and women, wherever they are.

Two thumbs up. :)

Don't suppose you have any idea what they're fishing for over in Iraq? Bass? Carp?

Looks like mostly carp, but there are other species as well.

Asp, Mangar. Some of those things are downright prehistoric looking.

While I was there this time last year I worked closely wihthe Baghdad Anglers Clu bad School of Fly Fishing. I taught several Soldiers and a couple Marines how to fly fish. I can tell you personally how excite these guys get wen they get a chance to fish. Thanks to all of you who support us over there. As of the last time I checked the Asp and the Mangar I caught on the fly over there were world records... I hope those were broken by now :wink:
