Once in a lifetime catch 7/31

Post by Uniform6 »

Walking longboat key this am with my friends John and Cindy jigging for snook in the surf and I caught a bonefish.

I have never caught one but knew it wasn't a snook when it took off.
I even joked about it being a bonefish as it made quick runs. I honestly had no idea what I had hooked.

I've heard of bonefish being caught in the past this far north but nothing in the past 10 or so years.

Very cool!

That is cool!

You hear about bonefish being caught every once in a while but it certainly is rare.

Finally, someone catchs a Bonefish and has the pic to back it up.

I swear this past spring I saw Permit on the flats of the south shore.

Congrats.

Wow! Just wow.
Being out on the water in the kayak is the prize. Catching fish is the bonus.

Twice we have seen a small school of permit up the manatee river. Spooky and never wanting what we offered.
The first time we couldn't believe what we were seeing. The 2nd time, weeks later, they were working the same area and we couldn't connect.

Once in 200,000 lifetimes catch

Well done, oh how I wish we had a population of those up here.
Maybe we ask for some stocking to be done by the FWC
