I thought the name was odd also when I first saw them. Actually it's an old French made reel. Its a tough one too. Here's a link to a couple pictures.

I have one of those reels. Never heard the Crack name, always called it a Luxor

If you have interest in the history, the ORCA site (old reel collectors association) would be the place to get it. The cost for info is small, something like a dime per page. Here's a short version. For all I know its the long version!

It's a No. 3L.A if that tells you what size it is.
I did spool it up a few years ago and used it a few times. Needs a rework on the drag as it's not very smooth.
