Restoring the finish on your rod...

Post by Tide1on »

After purchasing a new rod and noticing how nice the finish is compared to my older rods that I've had for well over 5 years, I wanted to see if I could restore some if any of the appearance to them. I've always thoroughly rinsed them after each use and occasionally wiped them down with a dry cloth after rinsing. Looked around the house and found some MAAS fine metal polish creme, besides polishing fine metals on the back of the tube it say's it can be used on plastics, plexiglas, fiberglas etc, so I decided to give it a try.

And here's the results...

Any suggestions for maintaining the finish they have like the day they were purchased?

Maguires paste car wax. The old fashion kind that takes elbow grease to buff, not the quickie stuff. Turtle wax paste works too but the green dye in it can affect wrapping color.
