Tarpon Fishing is a Contact Sport

Post by Manning »

DaveR hooked himself a nice little tarpon this morning that didn't take too kindly to Dave trying to put his hand in it's mouth. Dave had to give it the old forearm block to put it in it's place. I think if Dave's reflexes were just a hair slower this fish would have been in his lap. Watch closely at about 2:20 in the video.

Being out on the water in the kayak is the prize. Catching fish is the bonus.

Good thing that was a wee one. Closest call I've had yet of one joining me in the boat. Better than Starbucks!

These noble denizense of the deep should be treated tenderly and with respect. A forearm shiver sucker punch is not in the realm of a compassionate release!

Glad you are alright.

I was thinking the same thing, lots of Native's circling the campfire. Nice video and good fish. Guess I need to give my Native a try at a Tarpon.
