This one was special

Post by DaveR »

No, he sure ain't the biggest or the first of its kind I have caught but it's a rare bird for me. After countless hours of fishing my home waters of Sarasota I just haven't seen tailing redfish here. Finally today I saw 2. First one spooked but the second ate my Riptide shrimp. Just thought I'd share.

Congrats Dave. I have not see a tailer yet in Sarasota Bay.
Being out on the water in the kayak is the prize. Catching fish is the bonus.

Me either.... In fact I've only caught two reds in Sarasota waters and am always on the hunt. Good find!

I've caught hundreds of Sarasota red Derek but not tailers here. Didn't come across any schools.

I know they hang near Mote Marine. But I have more luck with snook and trout there. Anyone ever catch a red in the creek?

Awesome Dave! I can totally relate... I got my first tailer up in Palma Sola yesterday. Water was skinny and I was searching hard & finally came up on 5 or 6 tails waving at me. I lobbed in my Rootbeer/Chartreuse Slayer Sinister Tail and pulled it right under their noses and jiggled it a couple times & the reds actually fought over it. It was sweet as it gets to say the least!

I have seen and caught them before up there. Good show!
I have been off all week and have fished 9 days. I got on tailers in Florida and Sarasota Bays. Life is damn good.

Nice fish Dave. I have been on some tailing Fish just North of Sarasota.
FlatsYak how was the grass in Palma Sola. It has been pretty solid fishing if the grass isn't all over.
