what is it

Post by Phnd »

A couple weeks ago I caught a few fish I've never seen before in the south end of sketter lagoon . They're similar to a ribbon fish but has no tail. The head looks like mackerel with fangs like a barracuda. Its silver with white meat and all were 30 to 36". I've been fishing Florida since I was a kid and can't remember seeing anything like it. Does't seem to be an inshore species. Anyone have any idea what this might be?

Cutlass. We caught them all the time at night in canals when I was a kid in Miaimi.

Funny story, we would catch them and carve our initials in them and then catch each others fish.

Nasty creatures, great kingfish bait.

Ribbonfish and cutlassfish are the same thing.

That's it for sure. In al these years I'm surprised I haven't caught one before now.

Nice kids, Jeffery Dommer started out like that. With all the L's in your name that fish didn't last long.
