Gentlemen,
What flies do you like to have with you while hunting Grand Slam species?
I am re-thinking my on the water flybox.
Thanks,

Re: What's In Your Wallet?
Depends on the type of slam.....local saltwater of reds, snook and trout I like flys that imitate a sinking crab, a slow sink mullet and a top water gurgler or popper........
The smokie mountains slam ....I'll go for a yellow sally, bead head pheasant tail or a green weeny
Keep it simple, keep it clean, keep it out of the trees.....

Maybe I should have asked what species of fish are in your grand slam?
My favorite Grand Slams are Osceola, Eastern, Rio Grande, Mariam's

Re: What's In Your Wallet?
Assuming we are talking about snook, trout, reds and tarpon....
If I were trying to keep it simple I'd stick with:
Clouser Minnows- My favorite are chartreuse over white, all white with gold flash and all black with gold flash
Deer hair sliders- black, purple, chartreuse and white
Tarpon toads- black, chartreuse and purple
Seaducers- white and red head with white or yellow tail
Gurglers- I like white, but any color is probably fine
Depending on how big of tarpon we are talking about, I'd want these in different sizes from #2-1/O. There are plenty of other flies I'd probably tote around too, but these seem to be the ones I use the most frequently when after those species in west central and southwest Florida.
If you are talking about Tarpon, Bonefish and Permit....I wish I could comment, but I really don't get the opportunity too often, and don't know too much about the latter two.

Re: What's In Your Wallet?
There are well over 100 flies in the box I always lug around, but I only end up using about 10% of them, and that number gets smaller every year.
I tend to use the same flies for Reds/Trout and for Snook/Tarpon. And for what it's worth, I only use two hooks for every single fly I tie these days: the Gamakatsu SC-15 for Reds/Trout and the Gamakatsu SL-12S for Snook/Tarpon (yes, even the big Tarpon). Here are a few of my favorites. Throw a gurgler/popper in the mix and I'm not sure you need anything else:
