Re: Fish Bites

How did the fishbites work for you? I picked up the clam and shrimp versions to take to the Keys for some mangrove snapper.

Re: New Boat ideas

Thanks for the insight. At this point, I'm thinking about getting a new single fishing kayak for myself, let my wife use the scrambler, and see if I can buy a Frenzy from a friend who never uses it for my son. So...the new focus is on a single fishing kayak, which is not so limited in models. again,...

New Boat ideas

Howdy folks, I've been fishing solo out of a scrambler since the 90s and picked up a Pamlico tandem when I started dating my present wife 13 yeas ago. I sold the Pamlico last year and have a 11 year old 60 lb son that likes the occasional kayak ride and likes to fish. I'll be honest and say I don't ...

Re: tandem boat selection

I do have another boat, a scrambler, so we take turns using the scramber solo and taking the pamlico out with our son. If he was a bit bigger, I'd let him have the scrambler and get myself a new fishing kayak, but he is not that interested in paddling.

Regards

tandem boat selection

Morning all,

Been thinking about selling the wilderness system palmlico and picking up a sit on top tandem for use with either my wife or 8 year old. I've never used a tandem SOT and was wondering how they handled when used solo and which models/brands to evaluate .

Thanks

Check out the review I posted on the Yakima System. I've been happy with it. I do use Hully rollers which make it easier to put the boats up on the racks, even when alone. It is great for freeing up the bed of the truck for other cargo. regards http://paddle-fishing-forum.com/viewtopic.php?t=18550&a...

The ethically challenged individual had been picked up on another charge, and this will add 3 more charges. He sold it for 50 bucks and the pawn shop already someone ready to buy it for 250...good thing there is a 30 day hold policy on pawned stuff or it might have been out the door before it was lo...

Pics of boat modification identifies stolen kayak

Morning all, One of my kayaks was stolen from the back yard a few weeks ago and I provided a picture of the boat with the police report. The picture showed several modifications I had made for fishing. The local police networked with County Deputies and emailed the photo around and my boat was locat...

I've seen ads for a small water resistant camera that can be strapped to your paddle or wrist for action shots while paddling or on a rollercoaster. I might pick one up for kayaking....don't want the Canon to take a bath. http://www.goprocamera.com/index3.htm Good luck searching there are a lot of n...

Do you have to put a red flag on a red kayak? Common sense would say to use a contrasting color, but if the projecting load is red is the red flag even necessary?

I finally took some pics of the rack system and hopefully figured out how to post here. I did note that when carrying the Scrambler on the crossbars with no padding or saddles, it has to be upright or the upswept bow can rest on the roof of the truck..but that is no problem. Regards Randy [/url]http...

Hey reelinitin1, The number of boats you can put on the rack will be a function of the width of the boats and the width of the cross bars. If a Ranger has about 54 inches between the bedrails you could use the 66" bars and have about 5" or so extend beyond the upright for 66" of cross...

Yakima Outdoorsman 300 Review

For those of you who drive a pickup and want to free up the bed for cargo, the Yakima Outdoorsman 300 is a great system. I recently traded in the 94 Bronco for a new F-250 and wanted to transport several kayaks plus gear on trips. With the hully rollers and mako saddles on the crossbars, it is a bre...

Worn out seats on a Pamlico

I bought a used Wilderness Systems Pamlico for tandem paddling with the wife and son and the fabric covering the padding on the plastic seats is now shot, kaput, trashed. Has anyone removed the shreds of fabric left :) and used a SOT kayak seat on the plastic seats, or did you replace the seats? As ...

roof rack pads

Before I started using the yakima track system with rollers and cradle, I used pool noodles over my old roof racks. The noodles would compress over time, but new noodles were cheap. Pieces of the compressed noodles were 'recycled' as rodtip protection while travelling, and leader wrappers for surf r...
